The 2014
FIFA World Cup will be the 20th FIFA world Cup, an international football tournament
that is scheduled to take place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014. Brazil
won the right to host the event on 30 October 2007 as the only country to enter
the bidding process. It will be the second time that Brazil has hosted the
competition, the previous being in 1950. Brazil will become the fifth country
to have hosted the World Cup twice, after Mexico, Italy, France and Germany. Thirty-two
countries' teams will take part in the finals tournament, playing in 12 cities
throughout Brazil. Also, Spain is the defending champion, having defeated the
Netherlands 1–0 in the 2010 World Cup final. The sale of tickets for the World Cup started on 20 August 2013. An estimated 3.3 million tickets will be available and the majority will be sold through FIFA's website.
